71st Students Actively Engaged in Science
Published by Betty Houghtaling on November 1, 2018
.....................................................................................................................................................................................
Students seemed to have lost a strong passion for Science. It isn’t the easiest subject to teach and even to learn. Learning science has to be interactive, fun, and able to grasp the minds and attention of students.Fortunately, the NC BioNetwork Labs from Raleigh, NC associated with NC State University offered our students the opportunity to experience that interactive learning. They joined Ms. C. Harris and Ms.  M. Ball’s science classes to share some exciting experiences in the classroom. Seventy-First is the first and only school in Fayetteville, NC they have been to. This is their second visit to SFHS. They enjoyed our students last year so much, they were so ecstatic to come again!

BOARD APPROVES MAKE-UP DAYS FROM RECENT HURRICANE
Published by Betty Houghtaling on October 12, 2018
.....................................................................................................................................................................................

Because of Hurricane Florence, students in the Cumberland County Schools lost several days of valuable classroom instruction. The State provided CCS  with calendar flexibility, which eliminated the requirement for the school system to make up all of the days missed because of the hurricane; however, in the interest of preserving instructional time for students, the Board voted to approve the following make-up days as full instructional days for students. Previously, some of the days were teacher workdays and two-hour early release days.

Traditional 10-Month Calendar:

  • September 26
  • October 22
  • October 31
  • November 21
